| Resumo | The Atlantic Forest comprises a group of ecosystems that hosts a high biodiversity rate. This biome is considered one of the most endangered biomes, and considering its elevated number of endemic species, the Atlantic Forest is a Hotspot for biodiversity conservation. The Atlantic Forest remnants include different phytophysiognomies that characterizes the different ecosystems constituents. A heterogeneity can be observed due to the presence of these different phytophysiognomies, what is translated in high biodiversity. The increase anthropic pressure over the Atlantic Forest follows national and regional economic interests and development strategies. The Atlantic Forest is also located along the biggest urban centers in Brazil, and the growth of these urban areas is a reason for the deforestation of its remnants. The pressure over the forest affects the phytophysiognomies differently and due to their unique characteristics and their ecological importance, studies about the effects of deforestation on each of them particularly are necessary. The present paper pretended to evaluate and quantify how different phytophysiognomies are affected by Atlantic Forest remnants suppression in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro states, Brazil, between the years 2000 and 2013. It was used data from SOS Mata Atlântica foundation in partnership with INPE and data from IBGE. It was found that the most affect phytophysiognomy in area was dense rain forest in both states. However, when considering the remnant area of each phytophysiognomy, the one most affect in percentage was areas of pioneer formation in Rio de Janeiro, and areas of ecological tension in São Paulo. |
